I'm now spending about $20 less per week, I can buy everything in one store, and the quality is better on almost everything. And with my Target Red Debit card I save 5% on everything. I can leave our home and get ALL our weekly groceries in the cart, checked out, home and put away in just slightly over an hour. So 3 mo ago I decided to give the Target that is in the next town, 6 miles away a try. It would take me over 1 hr and 45 mins to complete our weekly grocery shopping, and the store is only 2 miles from home. Also, the store was almost always understaffed and on a busy Friday morning there would only be 2 checkouts open. While I really like all the staff at my local Safeway, I got tired of everytime I went shopping on Friday with my weekly list and having to go somewhere else for several items because Safeway either was out of the items, or they just stopped carrying the product. I'd been grocery shopping exclusively at Safeway for over 40 years until about 3 mo ago. We don't have an Aldi in my area, in fact I'd never even heard of this store until it was mentioned hear on AW. You could take the label off of Hellman's mayo.and place it on their jar.no one would know the difference.Īnd yeah, the Tandil detergent is TIDE.we compared samples at several wash-ins, no one could tell which was which! They change up a bunch of stuff on occasion, just for a bit of variety.but for staples like bread, milk, and eggs.they are cheaper than most any other store around, and were not talking nickels and dimes, but serious dollar stretching. 25 for the cart rental.you have to buy paper/plastic and bag yourself, big whoop!.or you could bring your own.still a big plus over those flimsy plastic bags you get anywhere else. It may not be for everyone.but for every store I have visited, there seems to be a lot of foot traffic for something that some may find not appealing!įor one thing, they seem to hire some of the friendliest employees.not to mention they are QUICK on those registers.and that's compared to most any other store you go into.like Walmart I would always have to go to another grocery store to get the items Aldi doesn't carry. We did buy a couple things to try, but at that point I decided they didn't offer enough selection of anything, to make me want to go back. Any other grocery store has a much larger variety to choose from. The produce did look pretty nice and the prices seemed OK, but again, limited selection. Honestly I didn't look too closely at the prices as I didn't have any in my head for comparison. Many unknown brands and other products I'd probably never buy. I was disappointed I could only find 2 of the items on my list, so we looked around the rest of the store. My shopping list had 9 or 10 things on it and we walked around the store looking for them. We walk in and it looked clean, but spartan, almost as if it were a temporary store like those that open in the malls only for the Christmas season. There's one about 5 miles away, so a couple months ago I decided to go check it out since I had some shopping to do. I had heard about Aldi from both coworkers and here on AW.
